Samstag, 05.09.2026 | 15 Uhr, mit Lukas Helling, Kunst- und Medienwissenschaftler<\/p>\n

Die Stadt New York, in der Jamel Shabazz 1960 geboren wurde, war schon der Schauplatz vieler sozialer und kultureller Bewegungen: der Harlem Renaissance <\/em>und des Black Arts Movement \u2013 <\/em>und ab den 1970er Jahren auch des HipHop.<\/p>\n

Der Vortrag von Lukas Helling befasst sich mit sozio\u00f6konomischen Bedingungen dieses urbanen Raums, der der Geburtsort des HipHop ist. Der kulturelle Einfluss von Musik, Fashion und Tanz wurde auch visuell im New Yorker Stadtbild sichtbar und wurde ma\u00dfgeblich von den Black Communities gepr\u00e4gt. Shabazz zog mit seiner Kamera durch die Stra\u00dfen von Brooklyn und den \u00fcbrigen Boroughs, um die Menschen in stolzer Weise festzuhalten und mit seinem fotografischen Werk einen unverwechselbaren Stil der dokumentarischen Street Photography zu schaffen.<\/p>\n

Im Jahr 2026 feiert das Museum f\u00fcr Photographie Braunschweig den 150. Geburtstag der Braunschweiger Fotografin K\u00e4the Buchler (11.10.1876-14.09.1930), deren Nachlass sich seit 2003 in der Sammlung des Museums befindet. Das Jubil\u00e4um ist Anlass f\u00fcr ein umfangreiches Programm, das zwei Ausstellungen, die Einweihung des K\u00e4the-Buchler-Platzes, ein Konzert im St\u00e4dtischen Museum Braunschweig und eine Tagung an der HBK Braunschweig umfasst.<\/p>\n

Den Auftakt macht das Ausstellungsprojekt K\u00e4the Buchler heute \u2013 Aus Abfall wird Kunst<\/strong>, das unter der Beteiligung von Kindern und Jugendlichen und in Kooperation mit den Fotograf:innen und K\u00fcnster:innen Tamara Eckhardt<\/strong>, G\u00f6ran Gnaudschun<\/strong>, Catherine Peter<\/strong> und Christian Retschlag <\/strong>entstand. Angeregt durch K\u00e4the Buchlers Fotografien Abfall-sammelnder Kinder w\u00e4hrend des Ersten Weltkriegs wurden in Workshops Kunstobjekte ebenso wie neue fotografische Arbeiten entwickelt, die nun in der Braunschweigischen Landessparkasse, Filiale Dankwardstra\u00dfe pr\u00e4sentiert werden.<\/p>\n

8. Regionales Musikfest<\/b><\/h3>\n

Samstag, 12.09.2026 | 12-18 Uhr, mit verschiedenen Ensembles im Museumsgarten<\/p>\n

Nach Stationen in Salzgitter-Salder, Gifhorn, Sch\u00f6ningen, Peine, Goslar und Wolfsburg kehrt das Regionale Musikfest nach Braunschweig zur\u00fcck. 2.000 Musiker:innen, 160 Konzerte, 22 Spielst\u00e4tten \u2013 eine davon im Garten des Museums f\u00fcr Photographie. Braunschweig wird am 12. September 2026 zur riesigen B\u00fchne f\u00fcr Musikdarbietungen aller Art und Genres. Von Klassik bis Pop, Rock, Metal, Rap, Jazz, Blues und Swing, vom Soloauftritt bis zum gro\u00dfen Chor oder der Big-Band, alle Stile und Formen der Musik sind vertreten. Der Eintritt ist frei.<\/p>\n

Sonntag, 13.09.2026 | 17 Uhr, mit Barbara Hofmann-Johnson, Leiterin und Kuratorin, Museum f\u00fcr Photographie Braunschweig<\/p>\n

Gordon Parks z\u00e4hlt zu den zentralen Vorbildern von Jamel Shabazz, der mit seinen sensiblen und empathischen Portr\u00e4ts eine Gegenerz\u00e4hlung zum negativen, oftmals kriminalisierenden Bild schwarzer Communities liefern will. Barbara Hofmann-Johnson, Museumsleiterin und Kuratorin der Ausstellung „Jamel Shabazz. New York Moves and Black Communities“, stellt in ihrem Vortrag Traditionslinien sozial engagierter Fotografie mit einem besonderen Blick auf die Verbindungen von Parks und Shabazz heraus. Jamal Shabazz erhielt 2018 den Gordon Parks Foundation Award<\/em>, gefolgt vom Gordon Parks Foundation \/ Steidl Book Prize <\/em>in 2022.<\/p>\n
