As part of the 40th anniversary of the Museum of Photography Braunschweig, the exhibition " Back to where we have started from" aims to highlight the special significance that the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK Braunschweig) holds for contemporary artistic photography within the international art scene. The exhibition focuses on photography and video art by artists whose careers are linked to the HBK Braunschweig, who studied, taught, or currently teach at the renowned institution, or who maintain a special exchange with one another within the city of Braunschweig.
Within the debate surrounding artistic photography and its diverse contemporary and historical visual languages, media translations, social contexts, and installation-based staging possibilities, the Museum of Photography Braunschweig has consistently presented emerging artists alongside solo and thematic group exhibitions. A special collaboration with the Braunschweig University of Art has existed and continues to this day.
