In "Bloody Merry" Savadov uses a low art subject typical in contemporary Ukrainian photography (in this case, the interior of a slaughterhouse) introducing it into the context of high art.

The bloodless revolution in Ukraine moved into art in contrast to the revolution of 1917, in which blood was a permanent attribute. All the theatrical requisites of the Jungian Minotauromania operate here, the aim being to show that the drama of the "civil war" is in our heads, as is the struggle between the ideologies of post-Communist society.
