Ivan Pinkava's portraits remind us that all passion and strong feeling has been banished to the outskirts of our world. They point to the secret reverse side of the present, where man finds himself again before the Face of God. As if the entrance of the present into the abundance of time opened the gate to charity and sympathy for mankind.
The artist's gaze exposes both the eternal "We are all sinners" and the indisputable hope that man's erotic physicality is not yet lost. Out of the blend of light and shade beings emerge from the Beyond of these portraits, down-covered, reborn: distinctive and free people.
