Kubala tries to penetrate the mystery of the corporality of the human being. The difficulty in recognizing the pro- tagonists of his photographs means he can draw more general conclusions as to the human condition and our place in the world, which latter is becoming more and more unfriendly and anonymous. These photographic pictures, as we may call them, separate what is real, i. e. the human body, from what is invis- ible, from a certain mysterious aura and atmosphere created by the artist.
The photographs by Slawomir Kubala create a definite mood; they were taken in thriller movie scenery, underground or in caves covered with cobwebs, thus suggesting a symbolic process of alienation and loneliness, confusion and emptiness in human existence.
