A new socio-critical approach is being awakened in the youngest generation of Lithuanian photographers which is expressed in a self-critical manner and a more graphic language: in the case of Laura Stasíulytë, in the form of photomontages which she produced as part of a Lithuanian-French phrase book for students traveling to France.

For this, she drew on her own personal experience during a three-month stay at the Institut d' Art Visuels in Orléans as an exchange student from the Academy in Vilnius and the questions repeatedly put to her by her French hosts: "Is this your first time in a foreign country?" "Is Lithuanian the same as Russian?" "Do Vikings still live in Lithuania?"
